Is Hypnosis For Weight Loss A Fact Or A Fraud?
Hypnosis For Weight Loss – Fact Or Fraud?
Is hypnosis for weight loss a solid fact or a foolish dream? In order to answer that, it is helpful to look at a brief history of hypnosis. Then we should take a look at how hypnosis works and how this can be applied to weight loss.
In 1920, Emil Coue, a french pharmacist and psychologist published a book called ‘Self Mastery Through Conscious Auto Suggestion’. In it he demonstrated the power of the sub-conscious mind to achieve such things as curing yourself of illnesses, plus improving areas of your life – by planting positive suggestions deep in the sub-conscious. He also taught his clients to supplement the auto suggestion with clear visualization – picturing the situation you desired clearly in the mind.
Planting the desired suggestion in the subconscious can be effected by an operator (the hypnotist) or done yourself via auto suggestion. His famous suggestion for everyone to use was: ‘Every Day in Every Way, I Am Getting Better and Better". Coue realized what every over-weight person has discovered: that you cannot rely on will power to make dramatic, permanent improvements to your life. Imagination and deep suggestion are far more powerful and effective. This is the essence of how hypnosis works for weight loss. Albert Einstein said that "Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited; imagination encircles the world."
So now it is not so difficult to understand how people who go on a successful weight loss program start to fall back into their old habits once the program is finished. This is where using hypnosis for weight loss can overcome the tendency to relapse into those bad old habits of eating junk food and abusing your body.
Imagine this: willpower is removed entirely from the weight loss equation. Now it is more difficult to eat junk food, go on a food binge or over-indulge in alcohol than it is to avoid doing these things – all because of the powerful suggestions planted in the subconscious mind. How amazing is that!
Now if you have tried other methods of weight loss and failed, here are the questions you should ask yourself:
1. Am I a skeptic, or in order to lose weight, am I willing to try something different?
2. Will I give hypnosis for weight loss a fair trial?
It has worked, and is now working, for thousands of over-weight individuals who have had no (or limited) success elsewhere. It is acknowledged by both the American Medical Association (AMA) and the British Medical Association (BMA).
3. Will I go out of my way to avoid scam artists and only deal with professionally certified practising hypnotherapists?
Although using this strategy has a high rate of success, it doesn’t work for everyone. You will know fairly soon whether the system is working for you.
